The mother project of Mama Alice is especially famous in the Netherlands thanks to the lovely Christmas angels, happiness dolls and the felty hearts which these mothers make!
In Ayacucho these mothers come out of a home situation of extreme poverty and violence or neglect. Their children have troubles at school and/or behaviour problems. The mothers are ashamed and don’t talk about these issues.
In the project the women find a lot of mutual recognition, this strengthens them to talk about it. And by the financial certainty they get the peace of mind to handle their problems. We work towards a parttime wage with which they can make ends meet, so that they also have time left for their children.
